Deri Broncos RFC

Members of the Welsh Rugby Union & affiliated to the Mid District Rugby Union

Saturday September 8th 2001 - A date in history

This was an historic day for all concerned at Deri Broncos RFC.

It saw the Broncos play their first ever game in the Welsh National Leagues against Baglan RFC, and it is the reward for  many people over a number of years. These people both past and present have worked very hard; sometimes alone, in the quest to bring full WRU membership and National league rugby to Deri RFC.

A special thank you to all those concerned, both past and present

We are known as the Deri Broncos, and will again be playing in Division 5 South East for the season 2009/10, after finishing close to the top last year the club are hoping for another successful season.

The senior coach will be Andrew Thomas in the senior setup.

The Broncos director of Rugby; Peter Morgan will work with Coach Andrew Thomas. Peter and Andrew and the rest of the dedicated personnel will hopefully further develop the rugby within Deri RFC.

The Broncos will also have a youth side this year with Kevin Bradfield and Andrew Stephens taking on the coaching roles and assisted by Philip Morgan.

Club news

The Broncos will start their 2010 league campaign at home against Senghenydd on January 23rd 2010 with a 2:30 PM kick off. Games against Barry, Dinas Powys and Cilfynydd have all been re-arranged for Saturdays from next month.

They will start this back end of the season without players Craig Jones, Martyn Morgan, Stuart Bradfield and Club Captain Liam Evans after their move up the valley to Rhymney.
